If you are a patron of Osteria IL Centro then you have likely enjoyed many a bottle of wine from our vast cellar. Whether you celebrated an anniversary, a birthday, a promotion or even “just because,” we have plenty of empty bottles at the end of the day.

Instead of simply throwing away pounds of glass each day, we partner with Ripple Glass, a local glass recycling company that was developed after Boulevard Brewing Company discovered that 10 million of the 150 million pounds of glass thrown away in 2009 amounted to Boulevard bottles.

Ripple Glass constructed a state-of-the-art processing plant, and placed dedicated glass recycling containers throughout the metro area. One of Ripple’s local customers even converts the recycled glass into fiberglass insulation, saving enormous amounts of energy and dramatically lowering emissions, along with a Tulsa business that recycles amber glass back into bottles, including those used by Boulevard!

The Ripple effect has spread, with containers in Jefferson City and, soon, Branson. Ripple’s facility is processing glass from all over the region, helping other communities keep glass out of their landfills while giving it the new life it deserves. It’s a great way to close the loop, protect the environment, support area businesses and even make homes more energy efficient.

IL Centro is proud to contribute to this ongoing recycling process as well as partner with both Ripple Glass and Boulevard. So the next time you enjoy a bottle with us, remember: your bottle will be recycled locally and put to a new use!
