The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA) recently announced Gregg Johnson, Founder and Owner of Osteria IL Centro, Minsky's and eggtc., as the Restaurateur of the Year!
This esteemed award is the highest honor a member can receive from the GKCRA.
The Restaurateur of the Year award will be presented at the GKCRA Inaugural Gala on January 25, 2020 at the Downtown Kansas City Marriott Hotel. The event will celebrate the individuals and businesses making an impact in the Kansas City restaurant industry.
Gregg opened the first Minsky’s Pizza location in 1976 in the South Plaza neighborhood at 51st and Main. Minsky's now has 18 locations throughout the Kansas City area. Gregg founded Osteria Il Centro in 1995, which has earned 22 consecutive Wine Spectator “Best of Excellence” awards, and will celebrate their 25th anniversary in spring 2020. In 2006, eggtc. was founded, a neighboring breakfast, lunch and brunch concept, with a location in Kansas City and Shawnee. Gregg and his restaurants also support several not-for-profit charities, including Kansas City Pet Project, Chain of Hope, The Alex Smith Foundation, the Eighty-Seven & Running Foundation (Travis Kelce’s charitable foundation), Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Turn the Page.
